AP-NORC Website
A new website for the AP-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research

- Role UI/UX designer

The project
We redesigned the website for The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research for a much needed refresh on a decade old site. AP-NORC needed a complete redesign of their main organization website, a rich database of public opinion research containing hundreds of articles, projects, and datasets. The site needed to be flexible and future-proofed, with the freedom to customize content and front-end user experience as the organization evolved.

My Role
I worked as Creative Director and Lead Designer on the complete redesign of the AP-NORC website. Starting with stakeholder interviews, user data analysis, and content audits, I led the UX strategy to align the site with the needs of researchers, journalists, and the public. Through wireframes, user flows, and iterative design, we built a flexible, newsroom-inspired interface that makes hundreds of research projects and datasets easily accessible. The final product is a modern, scalable platform that positions AP-NORC as a leading voice in public opinion research.

Challenges
- Outdated site with sprawling information architecture
- No standard design system or practices
- Outdated technical backend and no CMS system
- Building a responsive site from the ground up
Ultimately, we need to build this site from the ground up beginning with nothing but content and ending with a timeless, fully responsive design that serves as a publishing platform, data archive and key resource hub for policymakers and journalists. Though this was built over 5 years ago, it still looks and feels timeless with little changes made to keep it up up to do.
